AFCON 2015 Ghana 1-0 Algeria Player Ratings

By Alex Queiros

GHANA

Razak Brimah – 7

Wasn’t troubled too much and was stable in every intervention.

Daniel Amartey – 7

Solid defence work and was able to start plays effectively.

Jonathan Mensah – 7

Wasn’t very bothered.

Harrison Afful – 5

Too many wayward crosses and rash decisions.

Baba Rahman – 6

Strong and steady, but not impressive.

Afriyie Acquah – 3

Would’ve been sent off if he had stayed on the pitch. Way too aggressive.

Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu – 6

Had some quality touches and moves, but nothing extraordinary.

Andre Ayew – 6

Lots of heart and initiative, but was bogged down by the constant fouls he suffered.

Jordan Ayew – 5

Too selfish, wasted good chances.

Christian Atsu – 6

Should’ve done better, didn’t do much of note.

Asamoah Gyan – 6

Shouldn’t have played from the start, he was tired and wasted interesting chances. That said, did very well in the play which resulted in the goal.

Notable substitutions

Mubarak Wakaso – 7

Lively since he came on and managed a great assist for the goal.

ALGERIA

Rais M’Bohli – 7

Suffered a goal, but apart from that he was solid.

Aissa Mandi – 8

Defensively, he wasn’t all that special, but managed a couple of passes which tore Ghana’s defence apart.

Madjid Bougherra – 7

There’s a reason as to why he’s Algeria’s captain. Very secure player.

Carl Medjani – 6

Again, good touches, but should have done better in Ghana’s goal.

Faouzi Ghoulam – 6

Had a set of good touches, but wasn’t paying attention when Gyan scored.

Mehdi Lacen – 6

Was okay, didn’t do much of note.

Saphir Taider – 6

Not at his best, needed to do more.

Nabil Bentaleb – 7

Added some spark to the Algerian attack and created chances.

Sofiane Feghouli – 6

Needed to do more in a game like this.

Yacine Brahimi – 5

Disappointing once again. He needs to step up his game.

Ishak Belfodil – 5

Didn’t do much, rightly replaced.

Notable substitutions

Islam Slimani – 6

Did well, but didn’t have any chances to show what he’s got.
