AFCON 2015 Mali 1-1 Cameroon: Player Ratings

MALI

Soumbeila Diakite 6

Solid outing, could have caught the ball on a few occasions to give his team some respite rather than electing to punch.

Drissa Diakite 6

Showed his experience, rarely caught out of position at right back.

Molla Wague 7

Superb tackle to deny a clear-cut chance early on.

Salif Coulibaly 6

Marshalled Vincent Aboubakar well though too static for the equaliser.

Adama Tamboura 7

Energetic as ever. Combined well with Sako down the left.

Yacouba Sylla 6

Did the dirty work in midfield against one of Africa’s most physical midfields.

Mamoutou N’Diaye 6

Able accomplice to Sylla, ensured the midfield battle was won.

Seydou Keita 6

Calm as ever despite the physical upheaval in midfield, provided the quality needed with the assist for the goal.

Sambou Yatabare 7

The crosses were poorly delivered but he ran hard and, despite being exhausted, finished emphatically for Mali’s goal.

Bakary Sako 8

Excellent in the first half, faded in the second but the danger was always there.

Mustapha Yatabare 6

Worked hard in Mali’s single-striker system, an aerial presence and ran the channels.

CAMEROON

Fabrice Ondoa 7

Oozed confidence way beyond his inexperience at AFCON/senior level.

Ambroise Oyongo 6

Troubled by the explosiveness of Bakary Sako but showed superb composure to get Cameroon’s late leveller.

Nicholas N’Koulou 7

Lucky not to concede a penalty, but several crucial interventions in dangerous situations.

Aurelien Chedjou 6

A somewhat surprise inclusion but rarely troubled, didn’t look his costly self.

Henri Bedimo 5

Forced back by the hard-running Sambo Yataboure, attacking game was subdued.

Eyong Enoh N/A

Taken off after 17 minutes due to injury. Cameroon missed his thirst for duels.

Raoul Loe 6

Who needs Alex Song eh? Beautiful pass to play in Oyongo for the goal.

Benjamin Moukandjo 4

Anonymous, could not cope with Mali’s physicality.

Edgar Salli 7

Lively game. Flashes of what he could do with some sparkling runs.

Eric Choupo-Moting 3

Similar to the World Cup, out of the picture for much of the game.

Vincent Aboubakar 6

Can never question his endeavour, worked hard to find the space by making the runs.

Notable substitutions

Franck Kom 4

Couldn’t fill the destructor void left by Eyong Enoh and suffered one of the ultimate embarrassments: a substituted substitute.
