AFCON 2015 Guinea 1-1 Cote d’Ivoire: Player Ratings

COTE D’IVOIRE

Sylvain Gbouhou: 5

Unsolicited for most of the match. Could do nothing about Yattara’s finish.

Kanon: 4

Struggled to contain Ibrahima Traore who had a fantastic match.

Kolo Toure: 6

Solid for most of the match. Cote D’Ivoire missed his leadership in defence.

Eric Bailly: 5

Not a bad outing for the 20 year-old on his competitive debut.

Serge Aurier: 4

Not as adventurous as per. At fault for Yattara’s goal.

Serey Die: 5

Could not deal with the activity of Naby Keita and Fofana. Withdrawn for Doumbia.

Cheick Tiote: 5

His usual roughhouse self, but failed to get a hold on the match in midfield.

Yaya Toure: 5

The game passed him by as it often does in Africa.

Gervinho: 5

The only Ivorian that ever looked a constant menace. Unlucky with a shot that cannoned off the post. Idiotic sending off handicapped his team.

Salomon Kalou: 5

Some clever passes, but not nearly incisive enough. Withdrawn early for Tiene.

Wilfried Bony: 6

Paroxysms of spontaneous genius, like his assist to Doumbia. But, ultimately, kept quiet for long spells of match.

Notable substitutions

Seydou Doumbia: 7

Came on and marked his introduction with an equalizer.

Siaka Tiene: 6

Brought on to shore up the defence and did just that.

GUINEA

Naby Yattara 5

Impossible to stop Doumbia’s equaliser but a few ill-advised forays.

Issiaga Sylla 6

Comfortable handling Salomon Kalou.

Florentin Pogba 6

Made a number of smart interceptions, and handled the threat of Bony well.

Fode Camara 5

Not as commanding as his partner, but held the line well in Zayette’s absence.

Baissama Sankoh 6

Very good in the attacking third, but struggled at times containing Gervinho.

Kevin Constant 7

Found his passing range early, spraying insightful passes to every corner of the pitch. Led his team well.

Naby Keita 6

Endless running in midfield. Much smaller than Die or Tiote, but much more energetic.

Ibrahima Conte 7

Often got the better of Aurier. Found success cutting inside. Replaced the suspended Soumah well.

Ibrahima Traore 8

The most active Guinean. When he found spaces, looked extremely dangerous. His cross created Yattara’s goal, and he was unlucky to hit the crossbar.

Mohamed Yattara 6

Justified Dussuyer’s decision to leave Idrissa Sylla on the bench. Did well to finish from a very tight angle.

Notable substitutions

Razzagui Camara 6

Stretched the Guinean defence, but could not convert half-chances.
