AFCON2015 Zambia 1-1 DR Congo: Player Ratings

ZAMBIA

Kennedy Mweene 6

Nearly gifted Mbokani a goal but looked competent otherwise.

Davies Nkausu 5

Kept Yannick Bolasie quiet early on, to the extent that the Crystal Palace had to change wings.

Stoppila Sunzu 6

Solid as ever, with him at the back you always expect Zambia not to disgrace themselves.

Kondwani Mtonga 6

No nonsense clearances to DR Congo’s unimaginative crosses, generally solid.

Emmanuel Mbola 4

At fault for the equaliser and suffered against DR Congo’s pace down the right.

Nathan Sinkala 7

A typically tidy, understated performance by the 23-year-old.

Chisamba Lungu 5

Doesn’t have the skillset to be a central midfielder, didn’t use the ball well.

Rainford Kalaba 6

A lively first half where he was a threat on the break but disappeared in the second half.

Given Singuluma 5

Unaided by Zambia committing so few men forward, disappeared after his 2nd minute goal.

Ronald Kampamba 4

Nowhere to be seen for much of the game.

Emmanuel Mayuka 6

Worked hard in his lone-striker role, but had little support for his attack.

Notable substitutions

Evans Kangwa 5

Memorable run as the game petered out, but also had little support.

DR CONGO

Robert Kidiaba 5

Harsh to blame him for the goal but the nagging feeling that he shouldn’t be No.1 persists due to his errors and poor decision-making.

Issama Mpeko 5

Hopeful crosses from the right, unimaginative usage of the ball.

Cedric Mongongu 5

Rarely tested by a Zambia side which didn’t have many attacks.

Joel Kimwaki 6

Similar to Mongongu, untested by a reactive Zambia side.

Jean Kasusula 6

Consistent as ever, could have passed the ball on the floor more as opposed to always opting for the cross.

Chancel Mbemba 6

Did what he had to do, some fine tackles to stop Zambia’s breakaways. Could have reacted quicker for the Singuluma’s goal.

Youssouf Mulumbu 5

Sloppy on the ball, slowed down DR Congo’s attacking moves and rhythm, but solid in his defensive duties.

Herve Kage 5

A lot of time on the ball but did very little with it before he was taken off.

Ndombe Mubele 6

More encouraging than qualifying performances, some good deliveries into the box for Mbokani.

Yannick Bolasie 8

Heavily marked but was intelligent to constantly be on the move and got the deserved equaliser.

Dieumerci Mbokani 7

Didn’t score but his hold up play brought others into the attack.

Notable substitutions

Junior Kabananga 5

Didn’t make the desired impact, main highlight was a wayward clearance.

Cedric Mabwati 6

Good work to deliver the assist for Bolasie’s thumping finish.
