Bio:
Mohamed El-Nenny is Egypt’s future defensive midfield talent. The 21-year old was a member of the Al-Ahly youth system however moved to humble Arab Contractors side in 2010. He spent three years at the club becoming a regular starter, playing regular football in the Egyptian Premier League until the Port Said disaster halted play. At this low point in Egyptian football clubs were, against tradition, allowing players to leave for foreign leagues to permit the financial books to balance. El-Nenny is a great example of this as he was allowed the opportunity to trial at Basel in early 2012. He impressed manager Murat Yakin who offered him a six-month loan and four months into the spell he made the move permanent.
El-Nenny’s playing ability has somewhat been overshadowed by Mohamed Salah, the other Egyptian starlet at FC Basel, however the Egyptian’s talents do not go amiss. He is a very solid defensive player who’s passing and excellent vision provide him with portal to future success. He is one of those players that give 110% for 90 minutes every game. Recently his playing style has changed, as he is more confident in picking up the ball from deep, dribbling forward and directly setting up goals.
El-Nenny needs a bit of time to bulk up and grow so he can be more physical. When he does this, along with gaining some experience playing against top teams top teams will chase him after.
