Welcome to Sandals For Goalposts, a new blog which aims to provide coverage of football from a truly global standpoint. Our writers are from a range of backgrounds and countries and over the coming weeks and months we’ll be trying to cover as many issues as possible fitting in with the aim of providing it on a global scale.

In the lead up to the African Cup of Nations we’ll be providing previews, running through all the 16 teams taking part in the competition and providing as much coverage as we can. In February, we’ll be doing the same for the Asian 2014 WCQ and in the summer we’ll be covering Euro 2012.
